Using the Trademark ™ symbol in Easylabel pulling from an internal database

The Easylabel database does not support the Trademark symbol. If your system is set to code page 850, or any other code page that does not support the TM symbol, the TM symbol will not display in the Easylabel database.

It is not possible to directly use the ™ symbol in the Easylabel database. However an efficient work around does exist. In the field that the ™ symbol needs to be represented, enter any character such as the ampersand (&). On the format create a phantom field that has a source of data of Database. The field that contains the data to be printed should be the field name of the field that has the letter representing the ™ symbol. To display the ™ symbol on the format follow these steps:

1. Create a new field with a source of data as arithmetic.

2. The calculation for the arithmetic field should be REPLACE(FieldName, “&”,“™”)

3. Use any True Type font or printer internal Swiss font, because they both support the TM symbol. Another option is to create your database in another application that supports Unicode character sets, such as Access, and connect to that database using an ODBC connection. Doing it this way does not require a phantom field or arithmetic replace command because the TM symbol is supported by that application.
