Viewing Search Keys of their ODBC Data File

The user would like to view the search keys of their ODBC data file from with the Print Menu by clicking the down arrow next to the operator input prompt. When the user clicks the down arrow, no search key data is displayed. (Typing valid data for the search key will bring up a record onto the format for printing)

This seems to occur based on the structure of the data file. If the data file is something other than a dBase III compatible file, the search field data cannot be displayed because there is no index defined or the data type of the search field is something other than character or text

If the data file was created using MS-Access, the data type for the search field in the data file must be defined as 'text' or 'character' and must have an index associated with it.

* This solution works for MS-Access files because an index can be created for the MS-Access file; however, Tharo Systems does not guarantee that the search key data will be displayed for files that are not dBase III compatible.
