Reading files from UNIX, SUN, SAMBA

Using a UNIX ASCII file located on a shared drive from a Sun Server (Samba Network), database records are being erased and then new ones are being added. When EL reads the file, it is reading the previous information. This also happens with Notepad and WordPad. However it does not occur using Word. Also, this problem only happens with the Windows 95 and 98 operating systems. Windows NT works fine.

As of February 2000, Microsoft Engineers have acknowledged that this is a problem with Windows 95/98. However, they have no solution.  If possible, use Windows NT where the problem does not exist.
