Active-X fails to register |
When installing EASYLABEL 32 version 3.4.2.154 or higher under NT 4, the ActiveX may fail to register. The following message will appear during installation: File(s) failed to self-register: C:\Program Files\Tharo\EASYLABEL 32\Elabelinfo.ocx The path in the message will obviously be the path where the user is installing the software. Be sure to say OK and complete the installation. Reboot as directed at the end of the process.
The problem is that the file “mfc42.dll” is too old. We were unaware of this potential problem so we are currently not distributing and/or overwriting the old file. The file that does work is dated 4/27/1999. To resolve the issue, upgrade to the latest version of EASYLABEL or To manually solve the problem: 1. Go to the directory \winnt\system32 2. Rename the existing file “mfc42.dll” to something like “mfc42.dll.old”. Just in case you need to revert back to it. 3. Copy the new file “mfc42.dll” dated 4/27/1999 into the directory \winnt\system32. 4. From a DOS prompt, locate the directory where EASYLABEL 32 is installed. By default c:\Program Files\Tharo\EASYLABEL 32 5. Type: regsvr32 elabelinfo.ocx 6. PLEASE NOTE: If the file does not register successfully, check to be sure you followed the steps and commands above properly. Also be sure that you are logged in as an Administrator with rights to edit the registry. |
