The License Server can be moved to another computer by simply uninstalling it from the old computer and then installing it on the new computer.
Before you begin, make sure you can locate the following 3 items:
Download the latest version of the License Manager software from http://www.tharo.com/download_files/netserv.exe
EASYLABEL Multi-User Sentinel Key (Beige in color with a 'Multi-User' Label)
The matching EASYLABEL Multi-User License Code Disk (3.5" diskette) for the Sentinel above. The Serial number printed on the Sentinel should match the Serial number on the License Code Disk.
Then follow these steps:
Stop the License Manager software from running. There are two ways to do this. Under Windows 95/98/ME, click on the LM Server that is in the task bar and select File | Exit or from a DOS prompt, use the lsrvdown command. From Windows NT/2000/XP use the CRTL+ALT+DELETE key combination to open the Task Manager. From the processes tab, highlight "lsrvnt" and choose End. You may also use the lsrvdown command. Remember, you must have Administrator rights to do this under Windows NT, 2000 or XP.
From Windows 95b/98/ME/NT 4/2000/XP choose Start | Settings | Control Panel. Double-click on "Add/Remove Programs". From the list presented, click on SentinelLM Server to highlight it. Click the "Add/Remove" button. You must have Administrator rights under Windows NT, 2000 or XP to do this.
NOTE: Even after uninstalling the LM Server, the folder \Program Files\Rainbow Technologies\SentLM\Server DOES NOT get deleted. The file lservrc remains. Be sure to delete this file. If the file lservrc is not removed and another copy of LM Server is installed, it may find the other lservrc and think that multiple LM Servers are installed and running.
Locate the parallel port on the new LM Server and plug the Multi-User Sentinel Key into it.
It is highly recommended that you close all programs and disable any anti-virus software that may be running before proceeding with the installation of the License Manager.
Ensure the date is correctly set on the machine acting as the LM Server.
Copy the latest version of the License Manager software (http://www.tharo.com/download_files/netserv.exe) to your desktop.
Unzip the file you just copied to your desktop by double-clicking on it. A folder named 'netserv' will be created.
Open the 'netserv' folder and double-click on Setup.exe to begin the installation. Click 'Next'.
Verify the installation path and click 'Next' again. Then click 'Finish' to exit the installation program.
NOTE: After the installation of the License Server is complete and successful, you MUST reboot the machine. There is no message that prompts you to reboot, but you must do this before proceeding.
Ensure that the License Manager is running. If the LM Server is running on a Windows 95b/98/ME machine, the Sentinel LM software will run in the task bar. If the LM Server is running on a Windows NT/2000/XP machine, the Sentinel LM software will run in the Component Services, located through the Windows Control Panel.
Now you must activate your license. Insert the License Code Disk into the floppy disk drive. View the contents of the License Code Disk and double click on the file called license.bat. This copies a license string to the LM Server software that instructs it on how many users are authorized to use EASYLABEL 4 Multi-User and the conditions of its use.
Reboot the LM Server machine.
NOTE: Be sure to check the EASYLABEL clients for the LSFORCEHOST or LSHOST environmental variable and change it to point to the new License Manager Server.
If you have more than one License Code Disk, repeat steps 10 and 11 for each License Code Disk.
