LM (License Manager) Installation

You must designate a machine on the network to become the LM Server (License Management Server). This machine can be the file server or a client on the network. If you choose to designate a client as the LM Server, it should be a client that is always running or at least running when the EASYLABEL 4 Multi-User software will be in use. The operating system of the LM Server machine must be Microsoft Windows 95b, 98, ME, NT 4, 2000 or XP.

  1. It is HIGHLY recommended that you close all programs and disable any anti-virus software that may be running before proceeding with the installation of the License Manager.

  2. Ensure the date is correctly set on the machine acting as the LM Server.

  3. Plug the Multi-User Sentinel Key into a parallel port on the machine that you have chosen to be the LM Server.

  4. Insert the EASYLABEL 4 CD into the CD-ROM drive. The setup procedure should start automatically, if it does not:

  5. Choose a language, select 'Install Software', select 'Install EASYLABEL' and then select 'EASYLABEL Multi-User'.

  6. From the EASYLABEL Multi-User Menu choose Install License Server.

NOTE: After the installation of the License Server is complete and successful, you MUST reboot the machine. After rebooting the machine, return to the EASYLABEL Multi-User Menu on the CD. There is no message that prompts you to reboot, but you should do this before proceeding.

  1. From the EASYLABEL Multi-User Menu choose Activate Your License. Insert the License Code Diskette into the floppy disk drive and click OK.  A license string is copied to the LM Server software that instructs it on how many users are authorized to use EASYLABEL 4 Multi-User and the conditions of its use

NOTE:  When the License is activated a batch file, named LICENSE.bat, is executed. If there is virus protection software running there is the possibility that no batch files are permitted to run. If the LICENSE.bat file can not execute the LM Server Software can not be activated and you will not be able to access the EASYLABEL Multi-User software.

  1. Reboot the LM Server machine.

NOTE: If the LM Server is running on a Windows 95b/98/ME machine, the Sentinel LM software will run in the task bar. This application is automatically added to the Start-Up folder during installation and MUST be running in order for the clients to use the EASYLABEL 4 Multi-User software.

If the LM Server is running on a Windows NT/2000/XP machine, the SentinelLM software will run in the Component Services, located through 'Administrative Tools' in the Windows Control Panel. This application is started automatically and MUST be running in order for the clients to use the EASYLABEL 4 Multi-User software.
